OGDEN a€" Our beloved mother and grandmother, Hortencia Viera Oliva, returned home to her Heavenly Father from a long and courageous battle with cancer. She passed away on Wednesday, February 4, 2009, surrounded by her family.

She was an active member of the Church of God, where she attended for 40 years. She loved to cook, sew, and take care of others. She was well known for her tamales around the Ogden area where she resided.

Hortencia worked for Pykettes for 10 years, Aspen Care Center for six years, and Weber Human Services for about two years, where she was last employed as a Senior Companion up to her last days.

Surviving are her children, John Oliva, Ogden; Rick Oliva, Brigham City; Hope Oliva, Perry; nine grandkids and six great-grandkids.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Porfirio Oliva who passed away in 1989.

The family would like to extend their deepest appreciation to Dr. Vincent Hansen and staff, Hospice, and the many friends for their love and support.

Memorial services will be held Wednesday at 7 p.m. at Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd.

Family will meet friends at the mortuary on Wednesday from 6 to 7 p.m.

Cremation under the direction of Lindquist''s Crematory.
