Howard L Cloward 1916~2008 KAYSVILLE – A Very special person has left us and returned to his Father in Heaven and his loving family waiting there. Howard L Cloward passed away on Wednesday, March 12, 2008 at the age of 91. What a wonderful, eventful life he lived. Howard was born November 5, 1916 in Payson, Utah to Charles Edgar Jr. and Eppie Lydia Coray Cloward. He married Ardella Burraston on December 30, 1935 in Nephi, Utah. They were later sealed in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They were blessed with four children, 20 grandchildren, 68 great-grandchildren, and 3 ½ great-great-grandchildren. Family was the joy of their lives. Howard was a people person and a hard worker. He spent his youth working on his father’s farm hoeing onions and feeding 3000 chickens. He was a hard rock miner, sheetmetal worker, taught tap dancing with his brother-in-law George Ruegg and organized the George Howard School of Dance, owner of Howard’s Conoco in Kaysville and Layton. Built and operated the Far West Motel and sold real estate. He was a member of the Kaysville Jaycees and helped install the first street signs in Kaysville. He served as president of the Kaysville Rotary Club, a volunteer fireman and served on the Kaysville City Council, totaling a long life of community service. He was honored for his 15 years of service delivering Meals on Wheels. Howard was nominated by his neighbors and selected as Kaysville’s Father of the Year. He kept an immaculate yard and won the garden award. He liked to be on the go and enjoyed traveling with family and friends. He loved his hunting trips and riding “Ol’Sparky” through the mountains of Monte Cristo. He loved RC Willey’s hot dogs! He has been a member of the Kaysville 2nd LDS Ward since 1944 serving in many positions and was also a super faithful home teacher. Howard and Ardella served as tour guides on Temple Square and fulfilled a full time mission to Kirtland, Ohio. Preceded in death by his wife Ardella, son Kenneth, parents, sister Marie and brother Rex. He is survived by sons Sherman H (Connie), Fruit Heights; Curtis Ray, Maryland; one daughter Loraine Bourne (Dick), Kaysville; three sisters, Maxine, Beatrice and Edna and 91 grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 19, 2008 at 11 a.m. at the Kaysville Rock Chapel, 2nd E. and Center Street. Family and friends may call Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Kaysville Mortuary and Wednesday from 9:30 to 10:30 p.m. at the chapel. Interment, Kaysville City Cemetery. The family would like to thank the residents and staff at Appletree Assisted Living Center and the Dr.’s and nurses at McKay-Dee Hospital for their kindness and care of our Dad.
