Howard Cross Coleman
Our beloved husband, father and grandfather, Howard Cross Coleman, 77, passed away on Wednesday, November 7, 2012. He was born on December 28, 1934 to Howard J. and Virginia Cross Coleman in Ogden. He graduated from Weber High School.
Howard married Betty Shipley in 1954 in Ogden. She passed away on October 3, 1985. He married Diana C. on August 22, 1996 in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. He was a lifelong resident of Riverdale.
He worked for the railroad as an Engineer. He served as the Chairman of the Local Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers Union and as a member of the American Saddlebred Horse Association.
Howard owned the Ideal Theater, Lakeside Cinemas and Lakeside Lanes in Clearfield. He was the current owner of the Motor Vu Drive In and Swap Meet in Riverdale when he passed. Howard served as the Mayor of Riverdale City and was on the City Council. He also served on the Weber County Planning Commission.
He raised and showed American Saddlebred Horses. Howard started working at the drive-in in 1952 and purchased it in 1979. He worked there every night in the box office until his retirement in 2007. His greatest love and hobby was the drive in and his horses.
Howard is survived by his loving wife, Diane of Sandy, UT; Bruce (Kathy) Coleman of Danville, CA; Dale (Holly) Coleman of Indian Trail, NC; and Brent (Kim) Coleman of Riverdale, UT; 5 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren; and brother, Gary (Louise) Coleman, Las Vegas, NV.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Betty S. Coleman and parents, Howard J. and Virginia C. Coleman.
Friends may visit family on Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. with a Private Graveside services to follow.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the American Cancer Society at www.cancer.org.
The family would like to thank Peach Tree Assisted Living in West Haven for all their kindness and excellent care for the past 3 A½ years.
