HARRISVILLE a€" Our loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Howard Ralph Gibson, passed away peacefully at his home on his 83rd birthday, September 29, 2012.

Howard was born to Ralph Blanch and Mary Jane Hipwell Gibson in Warren, Utah on September 29, 1929. He attended Weber County Schools and participated in many sports, graduating from Weber High School in 1948. While serving in the Army/Air Corps, he was stationed in Okinawa, Japan. He married Geraldine Bell on October 9, 1953 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.

He worked for the Ogden City Fire Department, Union Pacific Railroad and Hill Air Force Base where he retired after 30 years of service. Howard also drove semi-trucks part time for P.I.E, Bartons and Cream of Weber Dairy. He was an avid sports fan and participated in farm league baseball for many years. Camping, boating, vacation trips and horseback riding with family and friends were some of Howard''s favorite activities. After retirement, he enjoyed golfing with friends. He loved supporting and watching his grandkids in their many sporting events, dance and piano recitals.

As an active member of the LDS Church, Howard served in many ward and stake callings. He served 2 stake missions and Howard and his wife served as ordinance workers in the Ogden LDS Temple for many years.

Howard is survived by his wife, Gerrie; children, Linda (Tom) Burkland; Diane Comella; Julie (Alan) Maynard; Colleen (Mark) Sullivan and Scott (Chantelle) Gibson; 11 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

He was welcomed home to Heaven by his parents and 3 brothers, Darrell, Don and Ted Gibson.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 4, 2012 at the Harrisville 1st Ward, 435 West Harrisville Rd. Friends may visit with family on Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist''s North Ogden Mortuary, 2140 N. Washington Blvd. and Thursday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the church.

Interment, West Weber Cemetery.
