OGDEN – Howard Nahum Hancock, 84, died Monday, November 26, 2007 at Emeritus Estates in Ogden.
He was born June 12, 1923 in Ogden, a son of Nahum Fredrick and Anna Teresa Jorgensen Hancock.
On December 2, 1941, Howard married Juanita Strebel in Preston, Idaho. Their marriage was solemnized in the St. George LDS Temple on June 10, 1989. Juanita preceded him in death on October 27, 2003.
He worked for the Union Pacific Railroad as a switchman for nearly 20 years.
Howard was a man of many talents and his pursuits in caring for his family ranged from hauling logs to designing and building homes. He was extraordinarily creative and resourceful.
He excelled in school and was proud of his athletic prowess. He also enjoyed bowling and golfing.
Surviving are one son and two daughters, Dennis (Sarah) Hancock, Mtn. Green; Carolyn (Nolan) Barnard, Layton; Connie (Greg) Young, Perry, UT; 10 grandchildren and 36 great-grandchildren.
Howard was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, two brothers and one sister.
The family extends thanks and appreciation to Emeritus Estates and Vista Care Hospice for their kindness and service.
Graveside services will be held Thursday at 3 p.m. at Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.
Friends may call at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd., on Thursday from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m.
