OGDEN a€" Howard L. Robinson died peacefully Saturday, January 29, 2011 at the George E. Wahlen Veterans Home.

He was born January 22, 1919 to P.L. and Lillie Robinson in Franklin, Idaho.

Howard married Winona Preece on December 10, 1940 and their vows were later solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple. They just celebrated 70 wonderful years together.

He was a veteran of World War II where he served with the U.S. Army Infantry and was on a suicide mission to Japan when President Roosevelt dropped the atomic bomb.

Howard retired from the U.S. Postal Service after 33 years but he continued to work at Farr''s Ice and drove as a courier for First Security Bank.

He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was an ordinance worker in the Ogden Temple where he served faithfully for five years until his eyesight was taken from him with Macular Degeneration.

Howard''s interests included his garden, yard, home and golfing but what he enjoyed most was spending time with his family.

He is survived by his dear wife, two daughters, Peggy (Kirk) and Joyce (Lloyd), four grandchildren, Robby (Lisa), Ryan (Amanda), Stefani (Braxton) and Spencer, and nine great-grandchildren, Kaity, Jaci, Brock, Kolten, Logan, Carter, Sydney, Madison and Taisley.

Preceding him in death were three grandchildren, Cody, Allison and Rodney, his parents, three brothers and two sisters.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 2 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd.

Family will meet with friends at the mortuary on Tuesday, February 1 from 6 to 8 p.m.

Interment, Lindquist''s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.
