Howard Walden Williams
It’s the end of an era. The last of the feisty Williams brothers, Howard Walden Williams, passed away in the early hours of July 28, 2015 of causes incident to age.
Ninety-two years old, Howard was born on March 28, 1923 in Pocatello, Idaho to Heber Walden and Josephine Florence Elizabeth Hirshvogel Williams.
He married a saint, Maxine June Corey, on February 14, 1946 in Twin Falls, Idaho. During their time together they enjoyed traveling to California and the Oregon coast, bowling, and visiting friends. Maxine was the only person able to pacify Howard while alive and her death, on April 15, 1996, unleashed Howard’s eccentricities, which amused many, offended some, and could not be tamed. All the brothers were in the military during WWII, Howard earning a bronze star while serving in campaigns in England, France, Luxembourg, Germany, and Czechoslovakia under his hero General George Patton. Howard retired from the Army Reserve in 1965 and worked as a machinist at the Tooele Army Depot and Eimco Manufacturing from which he proudly retired in 1989.
He is preceded in death by his brothers and sisters-in-law Carl J. Williams (Dona) and George J. Williams (Yolanda), his brother-in-law Francis Corey (Louise and Virginia) and is survived by brother-in-law Kenneth L. Corey and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. He asked to express his deep appreciation to Janice Pierson, Cindy Flore nce, Michele Lane, Bill Foster, the members of the Cornerstone Church in Rose Park, and many others for the help they have given him over the last several years.
Graveside services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 4, 2015 at the Bountiful City Cemetery, 2224 S. 200 W. under the direction of Lindquist’s Bountiful Mortuary. In lieu of flowers he asked that his friends give to the Cornerstone Church, which helped him affirm his faith in God. We’ll all miss you Howard!
