SMSgt (Ret.) Hugh E. Cole "Pap" joined his Heavenly Father on Thursday, January 27, 2011, with his best friend, his loving wife of 68 years, Juanita "Nita" and family at his side.
He was born April 28, 1922 in Shreveport, Louisiana.
Hugh joined the Army Air Corp. at the beginning of World War II, where he served his country in the South Pacific. He retired from the US Air Force at Travis AFB, CA in 1971. He began a second career working for the Vacaville, CA Unified School District until he retired in 1992.
Hugh was a devout Christian and a faithful member of the Church of Christ.
Hugh relocated to Clinton, UT in 2004, to be near his family.
He is survived by his wife, Juanita "Nita", daughter, Brenda (Paul) Masopust, Layton; four grandchildren, Dena(Michael) DuClair, Christopher (Summer) Fournier, Michelle (Jeff) Ritchie, all of Clinton; Wyndell (Marie) Masopust, Syracuse; ten great-grandchildren, Derek, Dustin, Cole, MacKenzie, Logan, Harris, Nicole, Savannah, Brian, Wyatt; a brother, Marvin (Deon) Cole; and three sisters, Maxine (Robert) Mewbourn, Wanda Cole and Myrolynn (Cliff) Condit.
He was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, February 5th at 2 p.m. at Lindquist''s Roy Mortuary, 3333 West 5600 South, Roy, Utah.
The family will meet with friends from 12:45 to 1:45 p.m. at the mortuary.
Interment, Lindquist''s Memorial Park at Layton, 1867 North Fairfield Road.
The family has asked that any contributions be made to the Moran Eye Research Center, 65 Mario Capecchi Dr, SLC, UT 84132, in Hugh Cole''s name.
