Hugo Emile Schulze
Hugo Emile Schulze, loving father, step-father, grandpa and husband passed away on Tuesday, November 6, 2007. He was born in Independence, Kansas on June 9, 1922, and was a resident of Clearfield and Layton since coming to Utah in 1948.
Hugo was the eldest son of Louise (Luethje) and Fred Schulze and is survived by brothers Milton and Arthur and sisters Della, Doris, Mildred, and Alice; his sister Alma and an infant brother died in years past. His death was also preceded by Thelma Barrager Schulze, the mother of his children; and by Ivy Melcher Schulze, mother of his step-children Wally and Marlene Melcher.
Hugo served in the Army Air Corps during World War II, then continued in government service through employment in Kansas and at Hill Air Force Base where he worked for over 30 years. He was known for his quick smile and conscientiousness on the job. He also served his community and his faith by holding various offices in Trinity Lutheran Church, where he was a founding member.
His immediate family now deeply mourning his loss include his devoted wife, Betty, son Roger (Pastor Debbie) Schulze, daughter Sandra (Richard) Firth, step-children Donald Smith, Monte Williams, and Wally (Afton) and Marlene Melcher; and cherished grandson David (Beverly) Schulze. He is also mourned by his much loved step grandchildren and great-grandchildren too numerous to mention individually. The family wishes to give thanks and acknowledgement to the Vista Care Foundation (Hospice) and dear family and friends who provided such profound comfort during Hugo''s last days.
Funeral services and burial will take place in Independence, Kansas. Expressions of sympathy may be offered as contributions to Vista Care Foundation, Ogden, Utah.
Friends and family may call Thursday, November 8, 2007 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist''s Clearfield Mortuary, 1050 South State Street.
To Hugo... You have fought the fight of many men, The years have come and gone. There may have been a dozen years, but maybe only ten.
We''ve loved and wept and conquered, And been blessed with friends so dear. Now travel on my Sweetheart, There''s really nothing more to fear.
