Ian Jacob Meredith, passed away unexpectedly at work on April 15, 2025. Jake came into this world with his larger-than-life personality on April 10, 1977. The son of Gwen Eldene Chaffin and Michael John Meredith. Growing up, he was his families own “class clown” and brought life and fun to his siblings.
Jake graduated from Bountiful High School in 1995. He married his sweetheart Jaime Lynn Leonard on October 11, 1996, in Ogden, Utah.
Jake later graduated from CCI Technical College with his Associates Degree in Computer Science. He worked for almost 20 years as a Business System Analyst with Fed Ex. Jake was highly thought of in his profession, almost everyone came to him for advice, since he was the guy who could fix things no one else could. He made many friendships throughout his career.
Jake was a jack of all trades and often tinkering, he frequently mastered all the skills he put his mind to. He loved his Ford F150 and working on it. His love for learning was apparent as he was always taking in things around him. He had an amazing ability to teach others and share his skills. He could talk to an individual in their language to teach.
Jake was proud to be an ordained minister and being able to perform a family wedding. He loved to “geek out” at the Renissanance fair, and Titanforged SiegeWorks, and loved playing D & D. He loved watching all the moves, some of his favorites were “Back to the Future”, “Big Trouble in Little China” and “Monte Python”.
Jake loved his boys and taking them into the wilderness, off-roading, camping and rock hounding. He found his solace in nature and had many memories full of adventures.
Jake was a kind and generous soul, his patient and calm demeanor will be missed by his family as he had the ability to comfort them, unless his “Papa” voice came out.
Above all else was his family, Jake was so excited to become a father and took a lot of pride in the dad he became, he taught his boys by example how to be a great father. Nothing made him happier that being called Papa by his grandchildren. But beyond his family he was a dad to many who never had a father figure. He was a wonderful uncle to all of his nieces and nephews.
Jake is survived by his sweetheart Jaime, his boys Rhys (Alex) Meredith, Dylan (Abi) Meredith, and Gavin Meredith, four grandchildren: Lucas, Kaiden, and future baby Meredith and Willow and Elias Meredith and his four fur-babies. Also survived by his mother, his siblings Michael J. Meredith, Jr, Steven L. (Kristy) Meredith, Joshua C. Meredith, Christina M. Taylor and Gillian M. (Michael) Steenblik, his parents-in-law Gilbert and Debbie Leonard and sister-in-law Jackie (Jody) Page and several nieces and nephews.
