Ida M. Price
OGDEN – Ida Mary Raikes Price graced this earth on October 22, 1921 in Bradfordsville, Kentucky, a daughter of Lucien and Ella Mae Smothers Raikes. She was the first-born child to the Raikes family. She passed away Monday, November 16, 2009 at Ogden Regional Medical Center following an extended illness.
She married Alden Roberts Price on November 27, 1941 and they moved to Utah in 1949. Together they raised six loving children. They were married for 61 years when he preceded her in death in 2002.
As a young mother, she worked for the Arsenal (Hill Air Force Base) and later worked privately for many families in the Ogden area.
She is survived by her children, Larry (Janet) Price, Brigham City; Judy (Michael) Barnes, Tucson, AZ; Terry “Bud” and Sherri Price, Plain City; and Dale (Shantel) of North Ogden; 11 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are her eight brothers and sisters who live in Kentucky: George Lem Raikes, Ruth Raikes, James Raikes, Tom Foster (Bill) Raikes, MinnieLee Scanland, Helen McCarty, Roberta Hourigon, and Wanda (Ted) Carpenter.
Preceding her in death were her daughter, Lois Ann Rasmussen, son, Eddie Lynn Price, grandson, Brandon McCabe Price and great-grandson, Tyson Nelson.
Mother is now free from any earthly challenges. She can now visit endlessly with her family, especially her husband, parents, son and daughter. She recently turned 88 years old and celebrated her birthday with her children, grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. One of her greatest attributes was the love she shared with her children. She loved them more than anything, and would do whatever it took to please them. She was gentle and kind and lived life to the fullest. She loved sharing time with her family and she especially enjoyed visiting, laughing and talking to her children who visited her often.
Mom, we love you more than life itself. We will cherish all the wonderful memories we have with you for the rest of our lives. Thank you for teaching us kindness, compassion and for having a lot of patience in this life. Thank you also for all the love and support you have shown us throughout our lives. You are the most wonderful person we have ever known and you will be greatly missed by those you left behind. Wait and watch for us; we will see you again soon.
The family would like to thank the dedicated staffs at Ogden Regional Medical Center and Crestwood Care Center who provided her with dignity and peace during her final days.
