Ida Ellen B. Rogers

Ida Ellen B. Rogers passed away peacefully at Quail Meadow Assisted Living Center on April 23, 2016.
She was born on February 6, 1924, to Laurence C. and Martha P. Bond. Born and raised in Roy, she attended Weber County schools, graduating from Weber High School in 1942.
Ellen married her high school sweetheart, Melvin LeRoy Rogers on June 23, 1944, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They were married for 70 years. Their children and spouses are Galan and Lorraine Rogers, Burley, ID; Blair and Janine Rogers, Pleasant View, UT; Brian and Melanie Rogers, Farr West, UT. They have 10 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren.
She has enjoyed her homemaking and family responsibilities, along with spending time doing gardening work. She has also enjoyed time spent with friends and associates, spending time at the North Ogden Senior Center with her hobby of oil painting and serving in civil positions pertaining to the center.
Ellen is a member of the LDS church and has served in many positions since early in her life to the present. She was a member of the Pleasant View 17th Ward.
She has been a member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers for many years and was given a special honor of being a part of the DUP Royalty for the 2013 Pioneer Days celebration.
Ellen graduated from Weber State Junior College. Later she received a bachelor's degree from Utah State University in education and fine arts in 1966. She taught elementary school for a short time. Wanting to stay home with her family, she became a substitute teacher.
She said her greatest joy in life was time spent devoted to her family.
Ellen is survived by her three sons and their wives, all of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, one sister Margaret Stimpson Childs and one sister-in-law, Marilou Sorensen. She was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin Rogers, parents, two sisters, Eloise and Donna, and one brother, Max and one daughter-in-law, Michelle Beeler Rogers.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 28, 2016 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist's North Ogden Mortuary, 2140 North Washington Blvd. Friends may visit with family on Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Thursday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the mortuary.
Interment, Ben Lomond Cemetery, North Ogden.
The family would like to thank Quail Meadow Assisted Living, Canyon Home Health and Hospice and Comfort Keepers of Ogden for the excellent care they provided.
