Ila Jane Jaques Sparks

LAYTON a€" Ila Jane Jaques Sparks, 84, passed away Tuesday, January 15, 2013. She was a life-long resident of Layton and also lived three years in LaVerkin.

She was born March 24, 1928 in Layton, Utah the daughter of Vernal Thomas and Elverda Jane Beckstead Jaques.

Ila married Harold Dwight Sparks on June 10, 1946 in Billings, Montana. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple.

She was active in the LDS Church in many leadership roles, Relief Society, Primary, Young Womens program, and sports director. Ila served a mission on Temple Square for over six years.

She loved her family, genealogy, knitting and ceramics.

Surviving are her sons, Kelly (Lori) Sparks, Layton; Jody (Marie) Sparks, Caldwell, ID; daughters, Sheila (Vince) Granado, Layton; Terry (Larry) Wall, Layton; daughter-in-law, Sherrie (Paul) Latrell, Roy; 24 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren and brother Vernon (Violet) Jaques, LaVerkin.

Preceded in death by her husband, son John Sparks, parents, grandson Shawn Wall and great-grandson, Dalton "Bug" Fowers.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 19, 2013 at 2 p.m. at Lindquist''s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road. Friends may visit family Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at the mortuary. Interment, Uintah Cemetery.
