Ileene S. Wilkinson
FARR WEST a" Ileene Stoker Wilkinson, 88, died Saturday, September 27, 2008 at her home from esophageal and stomach cancer.
She was born April 7, 1920 in Ogden, a daughter of Richard Thomas and Florence Kennedy Stoker.
On September 29, 1939, Ileene married Lewis Merlin Wilkinson in Ogden. Their marriage was solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple on October 28, 1948. Lewis preceded her in death February 17, 1961.
She lived in Pleasant View, Slaterville, Harrisville and Farr West.
Ileene was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints serving in many callings in the Primary, Relief Society and Sunday School. She also served in the Extractor program.
She retired from the Internal Revenue Service where she worked as a tax specialist.
Ileene was very active in the Grandparent Program at local elementary schools and listened to children read for over 3,891 hours. She loved the children and missed them so when she was unable to continue. She also listened to children read at the Weber County Library. She was a member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers serving as Captain for eight years, along in various other capacities. Above all, family was Ileene''s greatest joy.
Surviving are two sons and one daughter, Thomas Lynn (Cathy) Wilkinson, Omaha, NE; Kieth Dee Wilkinson, Farr West; Judith Ann (Samuel) Bylsma, Perry; 11 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are two sisters, Lucille Stoker Macfarlane and Shirley Fay Stoker Fronk, both of Ogden.
She was preceded in death by her son, Lewis Nelson Wilkinson, on June 29, 1949, and two brothers, Glen Richard Stoker and John "Jack" Matthew Stoker.
The family expresses special thanks to Beverly and Crystal Cluff, Dr. Matthew Weeks, Brady Lane, CNS Staff nurses Robyn, Shelice, Hillary, Stacey and aides Terrin and Candice, for all of their loving service and care. Also thanks to the Farr West 2nd Ward for their compassionate service.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at the Farr West 2nd Ward Chapel, 2132 West 2700 North.
Friends may call at Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd., on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Friday at the Ward Chapel 9:45 to 10:45 a.m.
Interment, Ogden City Cemetery.
