ILEETA BENSON KNECHT

Ileeta Benson Knecht Bountiful, Utah, passed from this life on December 25, 2016.  She was surrounded by family and held in the loving arms of her granddaughter, Melanie Martin.  She was born February 8, 1925 in Parowan, Utah, to Clarence Benson Sr. (Stiff/Clad) and Esther Mae Lee Benson.

She lived her early years in Parowan where she graduated from Parowan High School. After graduation, she came to Salt Lake City to assist in the war effort by working in a factory in Salt Lake. She met Henry A. Knecht, married, and moved to Bountiful.  She was active in many callings in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She was sealed to Henry Knecht in the Salt Lake Temple.  She later worked in the Bountiful Temple for several years. She retired from the Royal Baking Company where she worked in retail sales for three decades of her life.

In the words of a loving grandson, Todd Knecht: “In a time of heartache, I am grateful for the certainty of the Atonement of Jesus Christ.  With the passing of my grandma on Christmas Day, I reflect on what truly matters.  I am grateful for eternal families.  I am grateful for a woman who led by example and lived a life of love, laughter, hard work and looking after the poor and needy with dedicated service.  She has been a key player in the Knecht household. She has been present during every family event.  I have never met a more beautiful, lovely, kind and sincere woman.  I am proud to be counted as her grandson.  I know that through Jesus Christ, we will see each other again.”

She will be missed and loved eternally.  She has strolled into a place not known to us, but we know she has a cheery smile and is swathed in the same love There, as the love she provided Here.  She is not dead. She is simply away for a while, but her time with us and her transcending devotion will remain infinitely by our side.  As we breathe in her memory, we breathe out the hurt of her departure from us.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 4, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. in the Lindquist’s Bountiful Mortuary located on 727 North 400 East, Bountiful, Utah. Friends and family may visit Wednesday between 9:30 A.M. to 10:30 A.M. prior to the service at the Mortuary.

Interment will be Thursday, January 5, 2017 in the Parowan, Utah Cemetery.  Special graveside services will begin at noon.  The cemetery is located on east Center Street in Parowan. We extend our gratitude to the exceptional and loving care provided by the caregivers, nurses and doctors and all others at Country Pines and Symbii.  Condolences may be shared at www.lindquistmortuary.com.
