Ilene Carlson Jeppson 1920 a" 2010
SOUTH OGDEN a" Ilene Carlson Jeppson, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend, passed away Saturday, July 17, in South Ogden, Utah after valiantly facing health challenges incident to her age.
She was born February 4, 1920 in Willard, Utah to Charles Arthur Carlson and Martha Jane (Jennie) Tams. She grew up in Willard, graduated from Box Elder High School and attended Weber College.
On October 11, 1940, Ilene married her high school sweetheart, Boyd H. Jeppson, in the Salt Lake Temple. They were blessed with five children. Her family honored her recently at an open house for her 90th birthday, which was attended by many friends and family members. She set an example of dedicated compassionate service through frequent visits or communications with friends and relatives who were experiencing physical or spiritual challenges.
She requested that this statement be included: "Her greatest joy was love of family and love for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints". Ilene served faithfully in many church callings including Ward and Stake Relief Society President and as an ordinance worker in the Ogden Temple with her husband for nine years.
Ilene enjoyed community service including various positions with the K-Anns Club, Daughters of the Utah Pioneers, Weber State Alumni Association, and the Weber County Republican Party.
She is survived by her children: Judy (Winslow) Hurst, of Layton; Doug (Nancy) of Centerville; Linda (Dean) Carver of Fairfax, VA; Janis (Stephen) Ronnenkamp of Layton; Jeri (Paul) Laird of Ogden; 25 grandchildren, 59 great-grandchildren, a sister, Beverly Packer and a brother, Richard Boyce Carlson.
Ilene was preceded in death by her husband, Boyd H. Jeppson (2005); her father, Charles Arthur Carlson; her mother, Martha Jane (Jennie) Tams; her two brothers, Don and Leland; her twin sister, Ila; and her great-grandson, Carter.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 22, at 11 a.m. at the Pleasant Valley 5th Ward Chapel, 5735 Crestwood Dr., South Ogden.
Family will visit with friends at Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd., on Wednesday, from 6 to 8 p.m. and Thursday at the Ward Building 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.
Interment, Willard City Cemetery.
The family suggests donations be made to the Perpetual Education Fund of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
