Ilene Dalton Johnston

Ilene Dalton Johnston passed away on April 27, 2024, at the age of 83 in Layton, Utah. She was born on August 12, 1940, in Cody, Wyoming, to her parents Ralph Dalton and Dean George Dalton.

Ilene Grew up in Clearfield Utah with her parents, brothers and sisters. She Graduated from Davis High School in 1958. She lived the rest of her life living in the Davis County area. 

Ilene married William Bosch in 1958 and they had three children, they were later divorced. She married Thomas McDonald in 1984 and they shared 13 happy years together until his passing in 1997. She married Marvin Johnston in 2002 and were very happily married until his death in 2020.

She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and found comfort in her faith, she held many callings in the church but her most favorite was the time she spent in scouting with her boys.

Ilene held many jobs in her life including owning her own cleaning business, working at the blind school, and taking in ironing, which she did until she finally retired four years ago.  In her free time Ilene enjoyed bowling and was on many bowling leagues, playing Pinochle with her friends and quilting. She cherished these hobbies and shared them with her loved ones. She gave her beautiful handsewn quilts to family and friends, which are now cherished family heirlooms.

Ilene is survived by her children Cynthia Cummings, Dave (Betty) Bosch, and Kirt (Carrie) Bosch, her sisters Roma Kelly, Barbara Norton, Cheryl (Steve) Grover, sister-in-law Karen Dalton, along with 8 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Louise Bosch, brothers Rex Ricks, and Bob Dalton and two husbands Thomas McDonald, and Marvin Johnston.

 A service to honor Ilene's life will be held Friday May 3, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 N. Fairfield Rd., Layton, Utah.  Friends and family may visit Thursday May 2 from 6 to 8 p.m. and Friday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the mortuary.
