Mom was born on June 15, 1931 in Cortez Colorado. She is the daughter of Edmund Powell and Wilma Laws Galbraith. The eighth child and fourth daughter. She had four older brothers, Ted, Dee, Ernal, and Melvin and three older sisters, Anne, Vivia, and Vineta.
Mom graduated from San Juan High School in May of 1949 in Blanding, Utah. In 1968 she became an RT after graduating from St Benedict’s school of Radiology in Ogden, Utah. And in 1991 she also became a certified Paralegal from Wasatch Academy in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Mom married Robert Dewey Quent on June 15, 1953 in Blanding Utah. Five children were born to them. They divorced in 1962 in Austin Texas. She married Melvin J Holyoak in April 1973 in Kingman, Arizona. Two children were born to them. They divorced in 1991 in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Mom was a strong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints her whole life. She served in many capacities of the church and she loved to share her testimony with others.
Mom was always happy, quick witted and loved to make others laugh. She loved to be outside digging in the dirt or sitting and reading while eating a fresh tomato out of the garden.
Mom is preceded in death by her parents and all seven of her siblings. She is survived by her children, David (Barbara) Quent, John (Rozanne) Quent, Debra (Kevin) Merrill, James (Debra) Quent, Jimmy (Laura) Hammack, Sarah (Paul) Bertoch, Nathan (Rachel) Holyoak, her twenty eight grandchildren, and an ever growing number of great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at on Monday, September 9, 2019 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Roy Mortuary, 3333 West 5600 South. The family will meet with friends on Monday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the mortuary.
Burial will be at the Blanding Cemetery on September 10th at 10:00.
