Ina Sorensen Lloyd Cheney

Ina Sorensen Lloyd Cheney departed this life on Tuesday, January 11, 2011 in Bountiful at the age of 94. She was born in Central, Idaho December 4, 1916, to Charles Alfred and Sena Gertrude Sorensen Lloyd. The family moved to Just-a-Mere Farm (now Cherry Hill) in Farmington when she was very young. She attended Davis High School, where she met and courted Phillip Clark Cheney. They married September 17, 1937 in the Salt Lake Temple. Four boys were born to this union, Douglas (Judy, Ann), Mark (Susan), Paul (Debbi, Nancy), and Richard (Diane).

Ina attended Weber State College. She worked as a seamstress for Auerbachs and Utah Woolen Mills, as well as at a little shop in Farmington. She then created her own business doing custom sewing, for which she had special talent. She was also an avid gardener, growing beautiful roses and wonderful fruits and vegetables. Ina was a child of the Depression. She knew how to be frugal and was very self-reliant. She was a prodigious saver all her life.

Clark and Ina moved to Kaysville after Clark graduated from USU. They spent the rest of their lives contributing to the Church and community there. Ina served as a Primary worker in her ward for many years, then in the Stake Primary for 10 years. She also worked in the Relief Society, as a teacher, work leader, and visiting teacher and taught Sunday School. She and Clark were called to serve a four year mission to do ordinance work in the Ogden Temple. She was also very supportive to Clark as he served as financial clerk to several bishops.

Ina was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary for 43 years. She served as Unit President, District President, and President of the 8/40 group. She spent 10 years as a counselor at Utah Girls State, where she formed lifetime bonds with many girls.

Ina faced life courageously after her sweetheart passed away on November 20, 2001. She endured the challenges of failing health cheerfully, always assuring others that she was doing fine. Her greatest desire is to have a complete "Forever Family."

The family expresses their appreciation to Legacy House in Bountiful, and to Laura Hibberd and Cathy Esplin for the excellent hospice care they have provided.

Ina is survived by her children, 25 grandchildren, 54 great-grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, her siblings Ethel, Waldo, Reed, Edith, and Grant, two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 15, 2011 at 2 p.m. at the Kaysville 2nd Ward, 25 South 200 East. Friends may visit family on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist''s Kaysville Mortuary, 400 North Main and Saturday from 12:30 to 1:45 p.m. at the church. Interment, Kaysville City Cemetery.
