Ina Mae Cockerton Sheehan 1935 a" 2010
Our loving mother and grandmother passed away on November 29, 2010 after a courageous battle with cancer.
She was born in Cole, Montana on November 3, 1935 to George and Johanna Marie Cockerton.
In her youth she lived in Montana, Missouri, and California. She learned to love horses at her family ranch and kept that love for her entire life.
She married Patrick Sheehan on October 10, 1959 in Walnut Creek, California. They later divorced but remained good friends.
Ina graduated from San Jose State College with a degree in social work and committed her life to helping those in need. She loved people of all cultures, races, lifestyles, and would do anything for anyone who faced personal hardships.
In 1976 she began "SHARE", a Utah non-profit food provider for the poor and elderly. She also managed the Ogden area Share the Harvest program for many years. Additional volunteer service included traveling as a Red Cross volunteer to help victims of disasters, hosting Katrina victims, and serving medical service missions to Romania.
She supported The Christmas Box House of Ogden, the PTA, 4-H horse program, WECCO, and other non-profit organizations. Formal career jobs included working for several Human Services departments and the American Red Cross.
Ina was preceded in death by her parents and three step-brothers, George, John, and Ward Cockerton.
She is survived by Pat, her four children, Michael (Rhonda), Gregory (Charlene), Timothy (Karla), and Cathy; her eight grandchildren, William, Kaitlin, Alyssa, Andrew, Mitchell, Kyle, Devin and Brock.
