Ira Francis Harris

OGDEN – Ira Francis Harris, 82, passed away on Wednesday, November 11, 2015 in Ogden, Utah. He was born on August 9, 1933 in Ogden, Utah, a son of Golden Franklin and Elvira Shill Harris. He was raised in Henefer, Utah, attended Henefer School, and later attended Weber High School.
Ira married Barbara Elizabeth Richan on July 18, 1952 in Ogden, Utah; later solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple on July 2, 1964. Together they welcomed and raised their six cherished children into their home in Washington Terrace.
He was a dedicated member of the Washington Terrace 6th and Harrisville 8th Wards where he joyfully served in many different callings.
He enjoyed camping with his family and was an avid Jazz fan.
Ira worked at Hill Air Force Base for 37 years as an A/C Elec. and retired as Electronic Quality Control Specialist.
Ira is survived by his wife, Barbara; their children, Becky Harris Parker, Ida Mae (Larry) Brown, Judy Lynn Maycock, Tina Rae Voigt, Gerald Micah (Doni) Harris, 19 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his fourth daughter, Goldie Beth Harris and granddaughter, Justess Cooper.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, November 17, 2015 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. Friends may visit with family on Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. and on Tuesday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the mortuary. Interment, Henefer City Cemetery.
