Irene McQuarrie Conover Preston, Idaho (Previously of Farr West, Clinton, and Sunset, Utah)

Irene McQuarrie Conover, passed away of pancreatic cancer on March 14, 2013, at the home of her sister in Preston, Idaho, surrounded by loved ones. She was born on August 22, 1943 in Ogden, Utah, to Robert Christian and Letha Newbold McQuarrie. She grew up in Sunset and attended Clinton Elementary, North Davis Jr. High, and Davis High schools.

Irene enjoyed bowling and worked part time at White City Bowling Alley in Ogden, where she met her future husband, John R. Conover. Irene and John were married in Elko, Nevada, and lived for a time in Sunset before moving to their home in Clinton. They enjoyed only seven years together before John passed away of acute leukemia. They had no children, but Irene spent time with and truly enjoyed her nieces, grandnieces and grandnephews. Irene later moved to Westwood Village Mobile Home Park which she totally loved.

She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and her life revolved around attending church services and activities and living the teachings. She was also an accomplished pianist and organist and for many years she was the organist for the various wards in which she lived.

Irene had a career working at Hill A.F.B. When she retired from there, she was hired to work at the LDS Church Offices in SLC. She worked as a secretary in the Audio-Visual Department which she thoroughly enjoyed. Irene retired from Audio-Visual to spend valuable time with her father recording his memories and encouraging him to write his life story. She later kept busy working at the North Ogden Lindquist''s Mortuary. For about 30 years, she and a cousin put together a yearly McQuarrie Family Reunion and because of her effort, extended family members have kept in contact. She will be missed, not only for the kind person she was, but also for her dedication to keeping the extended family together. The yearly reunion included publishing a Family newsletter. She also built a McQuarrie Family Memories and Recipe Book a€" family members memories of their grandparents interspersed with favorite recipes.

Irene is survived by her sister, Marilyn (John) Kekacs, Preston, Idaho; sister-in-law, Barbara Litster McQuarrie, Dallas, Texas; four nieces, Stefanie Thurgood (James) Cragun, Ogden, Utah; Kami Thurgood (Kregg) Thomassen, West Warren, Utah; Michele McQuarrie (Curtis) Roberts, Dallas, Texas; and Sara McQuarrie, Dallas, Texas; seven grandnieces and four grandnephews living in Ogden, Farr West and Dallas, step-mother, LaVerne Bennett McQuarrie, Kaysville, Utah; three step-sisters, Lynada (Hal) Reeder, Brigham City, Utah; Glenda (Kent) Draper, South Ogden, Utah; Elaine (Jack) Kerivan, Kaysville, Utah; and two step-brothers, Marvin Bennett, Spokane, Washington; and Jeff (Cindy) Bennett, Willard, Utah.

She was preceded in death by her husband, brother, Robert LaMonte McQuarrie, mother and father.

The family wishes to express thanks to Bristol Home Care, Utah and Franklin County Medical Center Home Care and Hospice in Preston, Idaho, for the care they provided.

To honor Irene''s wishes, a Graveside service will be held on Monday, March 18, 2013 at 2 p.m. at the Clinton City Cemetery, 800 North 800 West, Clinton. Friends may visit with family on Monday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Lindquist''s North Ogden Mortuary, 2140 North Washington Blvd.
