Irene Gallegos Medina passed away Wednesday, December 15, 2010 at home in the arms of her loving family, at the age of 80.

Irene was born October 20, 1930 in Owenyo, California to Pablo and Aniceta Jaso Gallegos. The family moved to Tonopah, Nevada when she was a child and later moved to Ogden, Utah where she graduated from Weber High School.

Irene married Ramon L. Medina October 20, 1950 at Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Ogden, Utah, but later was divorced. Irene remained a devoted Catholic and a member of the CCW at Saint Joseph''s.

Irene''s strong desire to help people led her to become a licensed practical nurse at Saint Benedict''s Hospital. She loved the job she did until arthritis forced her to take an early medical retirement. Irene then filled her life with things she enjoyed but the most important being her grandchildren. She also enjoyed camping, crocheting, painting, and baking.

Irene is survived by four children, Jovita (Mike) Durfey, Alvino (Myrna) Medina, Cathy (Tony) Villarruel, and Patricia Cassidy; three sisters, Mary Mendoza, Ramona English and Becky Podgorny; five brothers, Frank, AL, John, Lupe, and Mory Gallegos; eight grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Chris Gallegos, and great-grandson Christopher Perez.

Mom we will always miss and love you dearly.

Mass of the Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, December 22, 2010 at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph''s Catholic Church, 514 24th Street. Friends may visit family Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. Rosary at 7 p.m.
