Irene M. Medina
OGDEN – Irene Mary Ribal Medina, 73, died Saturday, December 12, 2009 at her home surrounded by her family, following a brave battle with cancer.
She was born July 23, 1936 in Cumbres, Colorado, a daughter of Cornelio and Adela Martinez Ribal.
On August 31, 1952, Irene married Gilbert Medina in Del Norte, Colorado.
She was a member of St. James Catholic Church.
Irene worked as a hair stylist for many years.
She loved flowers, especially roses. She also enjoying fishing, cooking for her family, and loved Negra the cat. Irene made tied quilts for her grandchildren and loved spending time with her great-grandchildren, especially playing peek-a-boo with A.J. She kept her family close and together throughout all the years. Irene was a strong, amazing woman.
Surviving are her husband, Gilbert, of Ogden; one son and one daughter, Gilbert William Medina and Shirley (Daniel) Perry, both of Ogden; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren with one on the way.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, John, and one sister, Tilla.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd.
Friends may call at the mortuary on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m.
Interment, Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.
Following interment, family and friends are invited to gather at St. James Catholic Church, 495 North Harrison Blvd.
