Irene Marie Thompson Pollard

September 8, 1917 ~ September 1, 2015

Irene Marie Thompson Pollard was 97 years old when she passed away on September 1, 2015 surrounded by her children and grandchildren.  She was born on September 8, 1917 in Hinsdale, Montana to William and O’Tilla Beavers Coon.  She was raised in Montana, moving to Seattle, WA in 1946 after spending one year in Trenton, New Jersey where her husband was stationed in WWII.  Irene and her family moved to Ogden, UT in July 1963.

She married Virgil Thompson on July 27, 1945; he passed away on November 3, 1996.  Irene married James Pollard on October 24, 1997; he passed away on October 16, 2009.

Irene ran a home day care and really enjoyed working with children.  She was an Ogden City School crossing guard for 10 years followed by many years volunteering at the Golden Hours Senior Center until June 2014.  Irene loved to square dance, collect driftwood, and Geods.

Irene is survived by her son, Barry (Cindy) Thompson of WA; Brian Thompson of Covington, WA; and daughter, Cheryl Barker of Syracuse, UT.  Irene has 10 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren with one on the way, and one great-great-grandson.  She was preceded in death by her son, Larry Thompson; and her husbands, Virgil Thompson and James Pollard.

Many heartfelt thanks go out to those who took such great care of our mom in her last weeks: Shellie, Jeneil, Visiting Angels, IHC Hospice, and to her dog pal, Cooper, who brought her great joy by his visits.

Honoring her request only Graveside services will be held on Saturday, September 5, 2015 at 10 a.m. at Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.  Services entrusted to Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary.
