Irvin Clark Teasdale
On Sunday Aug. 14, 2016 Irvin Clark Teasdale passed away peacefully in his home. After succumbing to a battle with cancer he has now begun his next journey. Clark is survived by his wife Carolyn, children Andrew “Buck” Teasdale (Elane), Bonnie Moon (Nate), and Rebekah Smith, brother Harold Teasdale, grandchildren Joshua Teasdale, Alison Teasdale, Hyrum Teasdale, Hannah Teasdale, Ammon Teasdale, Logan Teasdale, Haley Light (Teasdale), Paige Light (Teasdale), Rylee Moon, Emma Moon, Victoria Smith, and James Smith, and good friend and former spouse Jen “Lois” Richardson. He was preceded in death by his son Daniel Teasdale and his parents Irvin and Only Teasdale.
Clark was born on Sept. 19, 1940 in LaCrosse WI and grew up in Minnesota. He graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis in 1962 and served as an officer in the U.S. Navy and Airforce. He traveled the world and loved experiencing other cultures and learning languages. He was freedom loving and patriotic. Clark was also an active member of the LDS church and was always willing to serve. He loved people and animals, rescuing many an animal in need. He was good natured and always helping others.
Clark was well educated and held a Master’s Degree. He was a college level certified teacher in the field of computers and technology and taught classes at the local community college in California. He was also quite scholarly especially in math, science, history, and in the English language, possessing exceptional grammatical skills. He had a vast vocabulary with perfect grammar and punctuation. He knew every grammatical rule, even ones that English teachers didn’t always know. There was no better person to have proofread a college paper or essay than Clark. Despite his intellect he was quite humble and rarely talked about his schooling or background.
Clark enjoyed hiking, canoeing, rowing, sailing, ice skating, fishing, bicycling and shooting. He won awards and medals for marksmanship. He was awarded most proficient rifleman of his graduating class at the Naval Academy, class of 1962, with his name on a plaque at the Naval Academy and a trophy from the Secretary of the Navy. He enjoyed the outdoors and loved family road trips to Montana, California, Southern Utah, and various national parks. He often could out hike and bike men who were much younger than him. He was hiking on the mountain and doing push ups every morning well into his 70’s.
Clark was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He adored his grandchildren and doted on them constantly. Family was everything to him. He was kind and well-liked by all those he met. He will be deeply missed.
Friends are invited to join us in celebrating his life and legacy Thursday, August 18, 2016 at 11 A.M. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road. Friends may visit family Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Thursday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the mortuary. Internment, Lindquist’s Memorial Park at Layton, 1867 No. Fairfield Road.
