Ivan Lorin Dickson

November 30, 1928 — March 29, 2024

Ivan Lorin Dickson, 95, passed away peacefully, with his loving family by his side on March 29, 2024. He was born on November 30, 1928 in Tooele, UT to Lorin and Erma Mikesell Dickson. He was raised in Morgan.

He married the love of his life Alice A. Hamblin of Clearfield on January 9, 1953. On February 22, 1964, their vows were solemnized in the Los Angeles LDS Temple. They just celebrated 71 years of marriage.

Ivan was a loyal member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints where he was an Elder and a High Priest.

He served in the U.S. Navy from 1946 to 1967. He served in the Korean War and Viet Nam War. A few of the many places they lived during his Navy days; San Diego, Long Beach, and Vallejo CA, and Settle, WA. He retired after 20 years of service. He then became an assistant professor and taught auto mechanics at Utah Technical College in Salt Lake City. Retiring in 1987.

Ivan loved his family. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends at his cabin in Echo where he was known for his pig roasts with all the trimmings. Other interests and hobbies were camping, fishing, snowmobiling and ATV riding. After retiring Ivan and Alice started to snowbird to Quartzsite, AZ, where they took an interest in rock hounding. He polished stones, and they made beautiful jewelry and belt buckles. His work has taken first place in the Utah State Fair and the Summit County Fair.

Ivan is survived by his wife Alice Dickson; their five children Curtis (Susan) Dickson, Price; Rebecca (Lonnie) Maroney, Circleville; Scott Dickson, SLC; Roger (Kathy) Dickson, West Point; and Tracy (Lisa, deceased) Delaware; 17 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; and 11 great great grandchildren; one brother Arvel Dickson, Nevada; and one sister Barbara Lippold, Malad.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lorin and Erma Dickson, 2 grandsons and 2 great grandchildren; one daughter in law (Lisa); one brother and sister in law Al (Margaret) Dickson, and one sister Faye Morley; one sister in law (Judy Dickson) and one brother in law (Harold Lippold).

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 3, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at LDS Banbury Stake Center, 1350 South 1800 West. Syracuse UT. Family will meet with friends on Tuesday, April 2, 2024 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Lindquist’s Syracuse Mortuary. 869 South 2000 West, and on Wednesday from 9:30 to 10:30 at the church.
