Izetta Hancock Bramwell

1920-2011

Izetta May Hancock Bramwell was born May 14, 1920 in Garfield Idaho, the daughter of Daniel Riley Hancock Jr. and Lola May Miller Hancock. Izetta died January 20, 2011 in Layton Utah, at age 90.

She graduated from Ucon High School in 1938, Ricks College in 1940, and later, Brigham Young University.

In her younger years, during the Depression, she was a lifeguard at Riverside Gardens, which was owned by her uncle and aunt, Dell and Leta Holland. She loved to swim and to dance to the orchestras that performed there. Izetta was married to Gale M Bramwell on June 2, 1942, in Urbana, Illinois while Gale was serving in the US Army Air Corps, later the US Air Force. They were sealed August 31, 1943 in the Salt Lake Temple. Gale''s military assignments took their family to Illinois, California, Montana, Arizona, Texas, and Utah. After military service, they chose to settle in Rigby, ID. A passionate, dedicated and well-loved and educator for 30 years, Izetta introduced her students, children, and grandchildren to the magic of learning and reading. She believed in them, cared about them, and encouraged them to be their best.

Izetta was compassionate and caring, and nobody left her home hungry. She always had a calling in the LDS Church, including Young Women President, member of the Stake Primary Board, and always a Visiting Teacher and involved in compassionate service. She loved to garden and sew. She beautified their home, and taught granddaughters to sew by involving them in projects to make their own clothing.

She lifted the spirits of others with her wit and many one-line insights into the human condition. She would often say, "It''s a great life if you don''t weaken." She was constantly in motion, working, and doing good for others.

Izetta is survived by her husband, Gale Bramwell and by their son, Denton Bramwell (wife, Maxine) of Layton, UT and their daughter Marteen Jensen (husband, Clyde) of Portland, OR. Izetta and Gale have seven grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Virgil Hancock of Rigby, ID, and Dale Hancock of Pocatello, ID.

The viewing will be from 9:45 to 10:45 and the funeral service will be at 11:00 on Monday, January 24, 2011 at the East Rigby Stake Center, 4021 East 300 North, Rigby, Idaho. Interment will follow at the Central (Grant) Cemetery.
