J. Diane Gibson

(Janice) Diane Austin Gibson, 78, passed away Thursday, September 4, 2008 in Ogden.

Diane was born in Salt Lake City on March 29, 1930 to Merril V. and Beth Hadfield Austin. She moved to Ogden when she was six and attended Ogden City Schools until age 14. The family moved to the county where she attended county schools. Diane graduated from Weber High School and Seminary in 1948. (She thoroughly enjoyed her 60th reunion at Wolf Creek Resort in June). She joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in August of 1948. She worked in Salt Lake City for one year and then attended Weber College. She worked for the Weber School District for 28 years retiring in 1992. She lived in West Weber for 47 years.

Diane married Robert Gibson July 26, 1952 in South Ogden. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. Diane was a member of the LDS Wasatch Care Center Branch. Over the years she served faithfully in the Relief Society, Primary and MIA. She was a member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers Camp #34. Once Diane was no longer able to live at home, the DUP group held their meetings at Diane''s residence faithfully every month for the last 10 years right up to their last meeting of the year in May (what a compassionate, dedicated group of ladies). Diane supported the West Weber Junior Posse for 16 years and taught 4-H. Her hobbies included reading, sewing, embroidery and ceramics.

Diane is survived by two sons and one daughter, Kay (Bambi) Gibson of Sunset, UT; Blair (Deborah) Gibson of Las Vegas, NV; Jan Robbins of Fielding, UT; two sisters and two brothers: Nancy (Thomas) Dykman of West Jordan, UT; Annette (Richard) Miller of Moab, UT; Rex (Janet) Austin, Lynn Austin of Las Vegas, NV; and a special Aunt Carol (Ralph) Robertson of Salt Lake City, UT. She is also survived by five precious grandkids: Jeremy Abeyta, Joshua Gibson, Jacob Gibson, Katie Doyle and Jenny Gibson, four great-grandchildren and a special friend, Shirley D. Skeen.

Diane was preceded in death by her husband, Robert, and a sister Mary Lou (George) Wright of Las Vegas, NV.

The family wishes to express their deep gratitude to Country Pines Retirement Community, PeachTree Place Assisted Living, and especially Wasatch Care Center and Hospice for Utah, for all for the tender, loving care they gave.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the West Weber 2nd Ward Chapel, 4100 W. 900 S., Ogden, UT 84401, with Bishop Van Den Berghe officiating

Friends may call at Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd., on Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday at the Ward Chapel 9:45 to 10:45 a.m.

Interment, West Weber Cemetery.
