Jack David Baker
March 29, 1928 – March 1, 2017
Our dear father, grandfather and great-grandfather passed away peacefully Wednesday, March 1, 2017 just four weeks shy of his 89th birthday. Jack was born in Kirksville, Missouri the son of John Thomas Baker and Sylvia Marie (Carter) Baker.
Jack married his childhood sweetheart, Betty on February 27, 1946 in Kansas City, MO. He then shipped out for a tour of duty with the Navy during WWII, he would later serve again in Korea. Following his military service he had an exciting career in Aerospace where he was a part of the team who would put “man on the moon”. His career took him and his family on an adventure traveling across the country. Jack was proud to be a Mason and Shriner and enjoyed participating with the lodge all over the country. He had a love of boating, flying, camping and dancing with his sweetheart. We have so many memories of the two of them dancing to a “Big Band” tune or “Western Swing” it was wonderful.
They were blessed with three children, nine grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild which were his pride and joy. He is survived by his two sons Jack David II (Cheryl) and Russell Dean (Danna), the grand and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his devoted wife, his parents, brothers Bob and Jim; sisters Annabelle, Norma Jean and Lois and daughter Cheryl Jean.
Graveside services will be held at Maple Hills Cemetery, Kirksville, Missouri on Saturday, March 11, 2017 at 2:00 p.m.
