Jack Warren Brailsford
Jack Warren Brailsford was born April 24, 1915 in Heber City, Utah to John Henry and Ethel Lenora Adamson Brailsford. He passed away quickly on December 11, 2010 at home in West Valley City, Utah. He spent his early years in Fort Madison and Atlantic, Iowa where his father managed a JC Penney Store. They moved to Thermopolis and later to Cody, Wyoming. He graduated from Hot Springs County High School in 1933 where he was quarterback of the Wyoming state football championship team. He served in the Civilian Conservation Corp and was called from the Cody Branch to serve in the British Mission from 1937 a" 1939. He worked for the JC Penney Co. in Billings, Montana before leaving to serve his country in the United States Army from 1943 to 1946 in both the European and Pacific theaters. He married Dorothy Whitesides on June 5, 1946 and later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. He attended Brigham Young University and taught Social Studies for four years at Lehi High School and for 23 years at Central Davis Junior High in Layton. He also attended the University of Utah and the University of Idaho. He retired in 1977 and enjoyed his family, church activities, writing, traveling, golf and friends. He was a true blue BYU Cougar to the end and also had a deep love for his country. He and his wife served a Family History Mission at the Ogden Temple. He was a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served as a Gospel Doctrine teacher for many years. We will always remember his quiet humility, his sense of humor and his deep love for his Savior. We will miss him dearly.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Cynthia Acord for the loving care given to both dad and mom over the past nine years as their in-home caregiver. Few words can adequately express the gratitude we feel for our angel friend.
