Jack Kenneth (Ken) Farr
Jack Kenneth (Ken) Farr, was born in Logan, Utah to John Wright Farr and Karma Leona Savage on Saturday morning Sept. 4, 1943. He died on his 67th birthday, also on Saturday morning Sept. 4, 2010. He spent his childhood years in Utah, Idaho, and northern California. He started college at Utah State. Then served an LDS mission to the Alaskan-Canadian mission. He loved his mission and maintained a missionary spirit the rest of his life ready to teach and testify boldly. He spent a summer at Arizona State and finished his degree in Electronic Engineering at Weber State University.
His brother and sisters were also his best friends. P. Ronald Farr (DeeAnn), Rockland Idaho, Ugeneya (Jeanie) Singleton (Jim), Fruit Heights, Nona Lee Hyzer (Neal), Wisconsin, Sheryl Nabrotzky (Ron), Farmington, Valanne Jeppson (Jeff), Farmington.
He met his wife of 42 years, Kerry Kjelstrom while both were working at Smith''s grocery store in Layton. They were married in the Salt Lake LDS Temple June 12, 1968. He was a loving husband, always generous and complimentary. He dearly loved his 8 wonderful children and spouses. Kenneth Nathan Farr ( Ameema), Saudi Arabia, Heidi Willey (Travis), Farmington, Mathers Harrison Farr ( Mariah), Rockland ,Idaho, Mark William Farr ( Joanne), Layton, Anne Marie Kenison (Danny), Clearfield, John George Farr (Amy), Layton, Joel Kjelstrom Farr (McKell), Farmington, and Samuel Day Farr of Rockland, Idaho. And 25 beautiful grandchildren. Ken was a hard worker and good provider and had many interesting jobs over the years. Starting out helping his father do electrical work and selling Amway, bank in Arizona, repairing organs, a research assistant at Primary Children''s hospital, building the first isolette for jaundiced newborns.
His first job as an Engineer was with Schlumberger Well Services, followed by he and his brother''s business, Better Electric, Traffic Control, State of Utah, and as a senior and chief electrical engineer for Robert''s and Shaefer Co, Hercules Aerospace, private consulting, Farr Technical Consultants and Rakenwolf LLC, and 7 years as an assistant engineer at the Salt Lake Temple. Many special friends were made at these work places. Ken served faithfully in many callings in every ward he was in, the most recent being in the High Priest Group Leadership in the Rockland ward. He loved studying the gospel. Loved to talk. He had a talent for design, inventing, organizing, and logical thinking. There was nothing he couldn''t fix. He enjoyed woodworking, building, tools, trucks, guns, horses, sudoku and work jumbles. Thanks to special medical personnel who helped and also became our friends at Harms Memorial Hospital and clinic, Hyperbaric clinic, and Portneuf Medical Center.
Funeral Services will held on Saturday, Sept. 11, 2010 at 2pm at the LDS Compton Bench Chapel in Farmington, Utah, 850 N. Compton Rd. Friends may visit family Friday, September 10 from 6-8 p.m. at Lindquist''s Layton Mortuary, 1867 N. Fairfield Rd. and from 12:30-1:30 pm prior to services at the church.
Interment, Farmington City Cemetery.
