Jack O. Godwin
SOUTH OGDEN – Jack O’Neil Godwin, 89, died Sunday, October 5, 2008 at her home in South Ogden.
The eldest daughter of Perry Oliver and Anna Alice O’Neil, Jack was born in the unique community of Kings Station, South of Princeton, Indiana. She attended Kings School for five years, then with the remaining students, was transferred to Baldwin Heights, and later graduated from Princeton High School, class of 1936. Jack attended Enon Church in Kings Station and was employed at Morris’ Dime Store in Princeton, IN.
In 1938, she married William Robert Godwin and in 1941 they moved to Wells, Nevada where her husband was employed by the Southern Pacific Railroad. Three children were born in Nevada – then in 1960, after living in various places, they moved to South Ogden, Utah. Bob preceded her in death on March 9, 2006.
Jack was a member of the Ogden First Baptist Church.
Surviving are two daughters and one son, Nevada Rae Karadeema, Layton; Toni Lee Ricketts, South Ogden; William Robert (Toni Marie) Godwin, West Haven; nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are two sisters-in-law, Mrs. Arthur (Betty) White, Ft. Branch, IN; and Mrs. John (Joann) Stephens, Evansville, IN.
Private family services will be held.
Jack requested donations be made to Ogden Rescue Mission, the Y.C.C., or the Salvation Army.
