Jack Stanley Mauterer, 78, died Thursday, November 8, 2007 at Washington Terrace.
He was born November 14, 1928 in Pittsburg, Kansas, a son of Peter and Kathryn Burdick Mauterer.
On January 31, 1954, Jack married Roberta Anne Stonequist in Osage City, Kansas.
He lived in Covina, California for 27 years, and following retirement, moved to Utah.
Jack was a member of the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd in Ogden.
He served his country with the U.S. Air Force following World War II.
He worked for the U.S. Government as an educator.
Jack loved being around people. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, fishing, reading and watching sports.
Surviving are his wife of Ogden; one son, Patrick (Melinda) Mauterer, Modesto, CA; son-in-law, James Edward Denney, Jr., four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Also surviving are two sisters, Rosemarie Sherry, Jasper, IN; Marjorie Bolyard, Osage City, KS; two nephews and one niece.
Jack was preceded in death by two daughters, Debra Gray in 1993 and Sheryl Denney in 2007.
The family wishes to thank Washington Terrace Health Services and Legacy House for their kind and gentle care.
Memorial services will be held Friday, November 16, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. at the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd, 2374 Grant Avenue.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd, or the American Cancer Society.
