On March 21, 2014 Jack Reed Brown, age 97, passed away at the George E. Wahlen Veterans Home in Ogden, Utah.  He was born December 14, 1916 in Oskaloosa, Iowa to Frank G. and Bernice Childress Brown and was the oldest of three children.  He attended Ogden High School and Weber State College.  Jack served for 4½ years in the U.S. Army during World War II as a member of the 250 th Coast Artillery Unit stationed in Alaska.  When he returned home he resumed his job at Mtn. Fuel Supply Company (currently Questar.) He made it his life long career from which he eventually retired as a General Foreman.  In 1947 Jack married Donna Larson (later divorced).  They had one daughter, Jill.  In 1975 he married Juanita (Neta) Shaw.  They lived happily together until her death in 2012.

Jack was a sports enthusiast.  He loved hiking, bowling and his greatest passion, golf.  Hiking the Grand Canyon rim to rim in one day with daughter Jill and son-in law Dave at the age of 77 was one of his greatest joys.  He is survived by his daughter, Jill (Dave) Tucker; brother, Robert C. Brown; step-children, Sherry (Bernie) Kincaid, Carol (Franklin) Williams, Doug (Irene) Shaw, Brent (Shauna) Shaw; three grandchildren, 16 step-grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren.   He was preceded in death by his wife, Neta, parents, and sister, Lola Austad.

Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, March 25, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.  Family and friends may visit on from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at Lindquist Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd.
