Jackie Clair (Jack) Stonehocker, 93, passed away on August 31, 2024. He was born on June 22, 1931, in Grand Island, Nebraska, to John (Jack) and Mildred Hockenberry Stonehocker. He grew up in Doniphan, Nebraska. He was involved in sports as a youngster. Football was his favorite. He played on the 8-man football team in school. He was a big Nebraska Cornhusker fan and loved all of college football. He was also a big fan of the Utah Jazz.
In 1951 he joined the U.S. Army and served in Germany until 1953 when he was honorably discharged. He moved to Ogden, Utah shortly thereafter and took a job at HAFB as an electrician. He worked there until retirement in 1986. He resided in Roy from 1964 until his passing.
On November 27, 1963, he married Carole Marie Aeschlimann. They were married until she passed away on August 27, 2014. Mom and Dad enjoyed camping and owned property at Evergreen Park for many years. They spent most of their free weekends there.
After retirement, he built a woodworking shed in his backyard and spent many hours there building and tinkering with the wood. It was his favorite thing to do.
Jack is survived by his son Rick and 3 grandchildren: Rachael (Carl) Wooten, Nicholas (Lydia) Mabey, Isabella (Izik) Draper, and 5 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Carole, daughter Shelly, his parents, and 3 sisters.
Graveside services will be held on Friday, September 6, 2024 at 1 p.m. at Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 S. Washington Blvd. Friends may visit with family on Friday from 11:30 to 12:30 at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd.
