JACOB ROBERT SHINER
May 6, 2003 – January 19, 2022
Our beautiful son Jacob died unexpectedly of an at home accident on Wednesday, January 19th.
He was only eighteen. He had finished all of his requirements for graduation, and due to get his
diploma in May from Lehi High School.
Born to Robert and Julie Shiner on May 6, 2003, he was the youngest child, and proud of it!
Although allergic to everything that flies and walks on four legs, he loved all animals. With his loving nature, he desperately wanted to have a pet. Along the way, his love for baby kittens earned him the nickname of Little Kitty around his family. One by one, he had a pet of anything that he could get his hands on, finishing off with a pet snake. It had to be a snake.
While growing up, he was fortunate to have teachers who loved him and understood his creative nature. Angela Dose was one of those angels among us, who encouraged his creativity, and accepted him for who he was. Although Angela now lives in another state, she has kept in contact with our family, and has been a loving influence. Teachers like Angela are our unsung heroes. From the bottom of our hearts, we thank you Angela!
Other classes Jake loved so much included: Stage Crew, Ballroom Dance, Television Broadcasting, Photography, Video Production, and Lehi Legacy Live.
Over the years, Jake developed a great love for the arts. With the help of his close friends Korvin and Kahner Raby, Adam Del Castillo, Hunter Gerrard, and cousin Kaelin Mittel; many video short stories were written, recorded, edited, and posted online. He was a self-described Film Artist and YouTuber at Jaketopic. He was the founder and owner of Wild-Lines Studios. The Discord Channel owner of Unimpressed. He also wrote eight instrumental albums that can be found on Spotify under the artist “My Friend Jake”.
He was shy, sarcastic, sensitive and fiercely loyal. He loved to find humor in everything, especially the outrageous things in life. Jake was happiest when he was with his family or friends, especially if there was something he could be recording on a camera, or an audio clip on his phone.
He always brought us such joy and happiness, and so from early on, one of his nicknames was Sunshine. We were so blessed to have been sent such a glorious Spirit. He made us laugh and warmed our hearts, and will continue to do so through all of our great memories of him.
Jacob is survived by his parents, Robert and Julie Shiner; siblings, Colby Rasmason, Chase Rasmason, Doug (Maria) Irwin, Charlynn Irwin, and BreAnna (Mckay) Murphy, as well as his beloved niece and nephews, Grandpa Craig Shiner, Grandpa Bjorn and Grandma Charlene Wang, Grandma Merlynne Heaps, and lots of loving aunts, uncles and cousins.
We know his Grandma Norma Shiner, Grandpa Willard Heaps and Uncle Lane Heaps will be so thrilled to see Jake again.
