Our beloved husband, stepfather, son, brother, uncle, Jacob Andrew Strickland, passed away at home in Plain City, Utah, Tuesday, February 21, 2023, and returned to the loving arms of our Heavenly Father.
Jacob was born on January 21, 1981, to David and Margaret “Peggy” Ann Merritt Strickland in Lucasville, Ohio. He was raised in Ohio and graduated as Valedictorian from Valley High School in Lucasville, Ohio. Later he attended BYU and University of Utah and earned his bachelor's degree in Economics from the University of Utah.
Jacob was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served a mission to the Philippines. He loved all sports especially and was a dedicated fan of The Ohio State University. Jacob thought in songs and expressed himself with music in every way. His smile was enigmatic, and he could light up any room he walked in, and he left an unforgettable impression on everyone he met and knew. Jacob never met anyone that he didn’t want to have a conversation with, and he immediately considered you a friend. His thirst for knowledge never stopped and Jacob was always looking for ways to better himself and gain more knowledge and to share what he had learned.
Jake took to the role of “bonus dad” right away and he was so proud of his bonus daughters. He loved them dearly and would do anything and everything for them. He loved being outside with his dog, doing yard work, running, walking, shooting free throws for hours, going for long drives with his wife, and having spontaneous camping and hiking trips together. Jake wanted to live life to the fullest and he made sure he did by spending every moment he could with his wife, bonus daughters and close friends. Jacob loved love. And he loved his brothers more than words can say and wanted everyone to know about them. He loved parents and cherished his childhood memories he had and loved to tell stories about when he was growing up.
Jacob and Natalie Palmer married on March 28, 2020 in Draper, Utah after waiting 17 years from first meeting and dating, to their lives finally coming back together to have their happily ever after together; they were later sealed on June 11, 2021 in the Ogden, Utah LDS Temple for time and all eternity.
Jacob is survived by his best friend and wife, Natalie Strickland; two stepdaughters, MaKaya and Brooklyn; parents, David (Bev) and Peggy; and two brothers, Justin (Jeanna) Strickland, nieces Anna and Emme, and nephew Cameron; Josh (Shayla) Strickland, nieces Mikayla, Victoria and Andraya.
Jacob was preceded in death by his half-brother, Jason Keller.
Jacob, you will be missed. I love you forever and always.
