Jacqueline Crawshaw

Jacqueline Hearn Crawshaw

Jackie was born May, 15, 1936 to James and Marjorie Hearn in Ogden, Utah.

Jackie was a dancer for almost as long as she could walk. She danced with the San Francisco Ballet after graduating from Ogden High School.  After moving back to Ogden, she married William T Crawshaw.  She soon started teaching dance and eventually opened her own studio, JACKIE HEARN SCHOOL OF DANCE, in Ogden.  She taught for over 35 years.  She loved teaching people of all ages and taught children from 2 years old to adults 75 years or older.  She loved all of her students.  Many of her students were families with all three generations taking classes.  She had a positive influence on everyone and provided scholarships and/or waived tuition for many families who could not have otherwise afforded it.  She held each student in her heart and viewed them all as family.  Along with her love of teaching, Jackie was also a brilliant choreographer.  She choreographed most of the dances she taught and all of the production numbers in her recitals.

Jackie was an avid walker and walked miles every day.  Walking gave her much joy and great peace of mind.  Many people in Ogden remember her walking all over town (as is shown in the picture from the Standard Examiner article in 1984) She was a strong woman and dedicated her life to her family, as well as her business.  She lived her dreams and succeeded in all of her ambitions; inspiring others to do the same.  She was a guiding light to her family and she loved her children, grandchildren and great- grandchildren very much.

Jackie was Catholic and a very spiritual person.  She quietly inspired and encouraged all to include  God in their lives.  She loved going to church and went every Sunday for as long as she was able.

Jackie (Grammie), you will be greatly missed!   We all have such great memories of you with us at home and on our family vacations!  We pushed you out of your comfort zone to do things you said you wouldn't do, but you enjoyed every one of them!  You have been such a huge part of all of our lives.  We will always keep those beautiful moments in our hearts, and we will take you with us always.  Now that you are free from your burdens and restrictions here on earth, go ahead, walk, dance and Razzle Dazzle them!!!!

Jackie (Grammie) is survived by her children, Lark (Gary) Gurr, Mike Crawshaw, her grandchildren,  Shasta, (Regino), Zac, Colton, Tikki, Kiesha (Terence), Big Zack, Cathy and Jenny and her great-grandchildren, Mya, Avianna and Shyanne.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, June 28, 2014 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road.  Friends may visit family one hour prior to services.
