Jacqueline Edna Flinton

LAYTON a€" Jackie Flitton passed away peacefully at the University of Utah Hospital, surrounded by her family, on May 23, 2009 from complications related to lung disease, resulting from prior breast cancer treatment.

She and her identical twin sister, Judy, were born on April 8, 1941 in Ogden, Utah. She is now reunited with Judy, who passed away at age six.

Jackie married Barry Flitton, on August 19, 1960; they were sealed in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. She was the awesome mother of four children, Todd (Carolyn) Flitton of Kaysville; Nancy (Craig) Glauser of Layton; Don (Joy) Flitton of Kaysville and Lisa (Todd) Handy of Layton.

Her life was filled with service, compassion and concern for others. She served faithfully and diligently as Relief Society President (twice), Young Women President (twice), Primary President, and various other LDS Church related callings. She and her husband also served an honorable full time proselizing mission in the Canada Vancouver Mission from 2004 to 2006. She loves her Heavenly Father and her Savior and has a continual abiding faith in, and relationship with both of them.

Jackie worked for over 20 years in the Davis County Schools lunch program, and loved working with the children in the schools. She fed and often gave lunch to those children who otherwise would have gone without.

Some of her favorite pastimes were camping, fishing, sewing, quilting, going to Disneyland, spending time with her 19 grandchildren and one great-grandchild, and being with her wonderful husband.

She is survived by her husband, children, grandchildren, and her sister Norma Jean Bishop of Overton, Nevada and her brother Verl Anderson of Ogden.

The family wishes to thank the incredibly caring and professional doctors, nurses and staff of the University of Utah Hospital Medical Intensive Care Unit for their selfless service and loving care of Jackie.
