Our loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, James Wonder Bouwhuis, 86, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 25, 2013. He was born on November 16, 1927, the son of Christian and Mary Heart Bouwhuis in Weber County, Utah.
James enlisted in the US Army. In-between his two tours of duty during the Korean War, he married his sweetheart Helen Ada Singleton. They were married on November 15, 1952 in Weber County. Ten days ago they celebrated 61 wonderful years of marriage. He worked as a truck driver for AMCOR.
James was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
James loved fishing, hunting and camping. He enjoyed watching the elk and raising his pigeons. His greatest pleasure was spending time with his grandkids. They will always remember the times he spent talking to them and showing them his horse.
James is survived by his loving wife, Helen; son, James S. (Susan) Bouwhuis, Roy; daughter, Lorrie Bouwhuis Rebeck (Brent Rackham), Pleasant View; seven grandchildren, Denny Hatch, Christian Asbury, Erin Bice, James Duncan Bouwhuis, Bryce Eugene Bouwhuis, Cameron Allen Asbury, and Joseph Rebeck, III; and three great-grandchildren, Jacoby Rebeck, Carson Bouwhuis, and Danity Marie Tinoco; and sister, Cindy Mae Timbrink, Boise, Idaho.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers, John C. and Albert Bouwhuis, and sister, Emma Summers.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 27, 2013 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. Friends may visit with family on Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Wednesday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the mortuary.
Interment, Plain City Cemetery.
