James Cooper

James Leon Cooper, 55, passed away on January 16, 2019 at his home in Syracuse, Utah.  He was born in Phenix City, Alabama on March 7, 1963 to John Daniel Cooper and Beth Anell Williams.  He lived in Alabama and Georgia until he joined the United States Air Force in 1984.

James met and later married Diane Cooper on May 10, 1991 in Jacksonville, Arkansas. They are the parents of two sons and two daughters. They have lived in Arkansas, Germany, and in Utah for the last nineteen years.

He served in the Air Force for 24 years. He worked in aircraft maintenance at Hill Air Force Base. He was an Auburn Tigers Football fan, loved playing golf, scuba diving, traveling and enjoyed many outdoor activities.

He was preceded in death by his mother, step-father and his grandparents.  He is survived by his wife Diane; sons James Austin (Talia) Cooper, Harrisville; William (Andrea) Moore, River Heights; daughters Jennafer Diane (Tyler) Sheets, Syracuse, Kara Nicole (Brycen) Rackham, Syracuse, and his brother Joe Whitehead of Phenix City, AL. He is also survived by his three grandchildren Jackson, Avery and Quinn.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, January 25, 2019 at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Rd., Layton, Utah.  Friends may visit with family from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. prior to the services at the mortuary.
