Jim Hicks (Grandpa)
Born October 30, 1938 in Ogden, Utah. Adopted by Frank L and Jennie Hicks.
Jim graduated from East High School in 1956. Later, he served his country in the US Army, where he was stationed in Babenhausen, Germany, as an FDC, where he also created life-long friendships.
He owned and operated Hicks Equipment Company and later JJ Marketing before retiring in 1988.
Jim married Merrie Bowman in March 1961, later divorcing, but remained friends until Merrie’s passing in 2015. Together, they had two children, James Anthony (Tony) and Elizabeth Louise (Liz).
Jim’s greatest legacy is the unconditional, unwavering love he had for his family. He showed up in the ways most needed for each of us. He was a constant, joyful provider until the end. He created a strong and loving family.
Grandpa left this world peacefully on April 4, 2024, surrounded by his family, after a life full of love, friendship, an unmatched sense of humor, and witty, smart-ass comments.
Jim is survived by his son, Tony (Wendy), his daughter, Liz (Bryan) and his treasured gifts, his grandkids, Sabrina, River, Canyon and Creed.
Those blessed enough to know this man, his unconditional love, his drive to provide, will miss him immensely. “Damn straight!”
At Jim’s request, his memorial service will be a private celebration of his life with his immediate family.
