James “Jim” Coroles

James Coroles, 97, passed away on Monday, October 17, 2022. He was born in Ogden, Utah, on May 12, 1925, the son of Angel and Clara Boberg Coroles. He was raised in the family business, learning the trade, at the Utah Bottling Works. He enjoyed hiking the local mountains, bowling, and golfing. He was a charter life member of the Ogden Elks Lodge #719 for over 63 years.

 

At age 16, he began driving delivery trucks at the Defense Depot Ogden. At 17, he enlisted in the United States Navy, being stationed in the South Pacific. He served aboard the USS Block Island and the USS Nassau. He was honorably discharged in 1946. Jim continued to work at the family business, The Utah Bottling Works, until the final closer of the family enterprise. James later had a 20-year career with the Civil Service, working at the Defense Depot Ogden and at Hill Air Force Base, retiring in 1968.

 

James married Marjorie Ann Jost on June 28, 1946 in Reno, Nevada. They enjoyed 73 years together before Marjorie’s passing on October 7, 2019. They settled in Ogden to raise their three children, Sandra Korolis, J Kurt (Shelley) Coroles, and the late Julie (Doug) Baker. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Ogden LDS Temple

 

James is survived by his two children, Sandra and Kurt (Shelley); son-in-law, Doug; and 14 grandchildren, 43 great-grandchildren, and 6 great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marjorie; his daughter, Julie; his sister, Louise; and brother, Andy J Coroles.

 

Graveside services will be held on Friday, October 21, 2022 at 3 p.m. at Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd. Friends may visit with family on Friday from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd.
