James Robert Lee
1932 ~ 2018
James Robert Lee, 86, beloved father, grandfather and great-grandfather, passed away October 27, 2018 in Ogden, Utah surrounded by his loving family. He was born February 25, 1932 in Logan, Utah to Lorenzo and Drucilla May Morgan Lee. He was the oldest of three sons.
He grew up in Grouse Creek, Utah on his family’s farm, where he learned the value of hard work and always helped his mother and father. He attended school in Grouse Creek until moving to Ogden, Utah, where he continued his education and graduated from Ogden High school.
James met and married the love of his life Marilyn Opheikens. They were married on January 24, 1951 in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Salt Lake Temple. Together they made their home in Ogden, Utah where they raised their two children Janet and Keith. He lovingly took care of his sweet wife until her passing in 1987.
He worked for the Southern Pacific Railroad and Weber County School District. He retired from the school district after more than 42 years of service, where he made many good friends and had many associates.
James was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in several bishoprics and Sunday school presidencies; He was also a stake missionary.
He enjoyed spending time around his home and working in his yard. He loved to travel with his family and would accompany them on many trips where he would share his stories about his life as a young man growing up in Grouse Creek and Ogden, teaching us many life lessons with his memories.
He was preceded in death by his sweetheart Marilyn, his parents, two brothers Gerald and Dick.
He is survived by his son Keith Robert Lee, daughter, Janet Lee Collatz, grandsons Stacey Ray (Camille) Collatz, Tracey Lee Collatz, his great-grandsons, Bryce James (Chelsie) Collatz, Corey Levi Collatz and Colton James Collatz.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, November 1, 2018 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. Friends may visit with family Wednesday Oct 31 from 6 to 8 p.m. and Thursday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the mortuary. Interment, Lindquist’s Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch, 1718 Combe Rd.
