CLEARFIELD a€" James David Linford passed away on Saturday, September 8th, 2012. An amazing husband, father, brother, son, uncle and friend, James was what so many strive to be. Cancer took his life, but it did not define it. James was defined by his kind hearted nature, his world-class sense of humor and his genuine love for others. James had an extraordinary ability to make people laugh and smile. His warmth and welcoming spirit drew people to him and he made lasting friendships effortlessly. Quite simply, James loved people and people loved him.

James loved the Lord and was an example of the two great commandments. His love for others and the Lord was evidenced in his commitment to his many church callings. He was a powerful young men''s president, a dedicated ward missionary, ward clerk, and an inspired home teacher. He was always the first one to lend a hand when someone was in need or something heavy needed to be moved.

James loved to entertain others. His off-the-cuff humor is the stuff of legend, but he also pleased the crowds as the lead singer of his band, "Thursday Night", as leads in several school plays, and as the go to singer for family weddings, funerals and other events. He was adored by many but it never went to his head. His humor was surpassed only by his humility.

James received his Bachelor''s degree in computer technology from Weber State University. He worked for the LDS Church where he made a lasting impression and lasting friendships.

Above all, James loved his family. He was sealed to his high school sweetheart in the Salt Lake Temple on March 30, 1996. He loved her with his whole soul all of his life. He treasured and adored his children and pined over their wellbeing and happiness especially in his final weeks. His family meant everything to him. They were his reason for living and fighting well beyond the predictions of doctors.

In his final days when asked how he was doing, he would respond with his characteristic warmth and say "fantastic". Yes he was.

James is survived by his wife Kristine, his children Conner, Katlyn, Annie, Logan, and Joshua, by his parents David and Marilyn Linford, his brothers Matthew (Kathryn), Michael (Julie), and Daniel (Shanna), 13 nieces and 10 nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother-in-law Dave Marlin and sister Julee Marlin.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 15, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at Lindquist''s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road. Friends may visit family on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at the mortuary. Interment, Clearfield City Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the James Linford charitable account at America First Credit Union.
