James T. Luhn
James Thomas Luhn, 77, passed away on October 29, 2011. He was born November 16, 1933 in Burlington, WI, to John Benedict and Mary (Juranek) Luhn. He married Elaine Lois on August 31, 1957 in St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Burlington. They have one child, Kim Marie Luhn, born on July 14, 1959.
He attended St. Mary’s Catholic Elementary and High Schools in Burlington, graduating in 1951. He entered the U.S. Air Force in 1952 and served during the Korean War until 1956. He attended the University of Wisconsin, Whitewater and graduated in 1963 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration. He was employed for 25 years by the U.S. General Accounting Office. His job took the family in several directions including Colorado, Maryland, and Utah where he retired in 1987.
Jim enjoyed hunting, fishing, reading, tennis, and playing Texas Hold ‘Em poker in Wendover, NV.
He is survived by his wife Elaine and his daughter Kim, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Geraldine (Lois) and Joseph Mesec; Eugene and Karen (Eckert) Lois; Marlene (Lois) Paprocki; and nieces and nephews.
Jim was preceded in death by his father, mother, stepmother Elizabeth (Crane) Luhn; brother John Luhn and sister-in-law Barbara (Conrad) Luhn; sister Mary Etta (Luhn) Pauer and brother-in-law Thomas Pauer; and brother-in-law Gerald Paprocki.
A memorial service celebrating his life will be held Friday, November 4, 2011 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd.
There will be a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Burlington, WI at a later date, and followed by the burial of his cremains in the St. Mary’s Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donation be made to an organization for cancer research or a favorite charity of your own.
