James Henry Mathews 1934 ~ 2013

James Henry Mathews, 79, passed away on April 28, 2013 in Ogden, Utah. He was born on March 21, 1934 to Henry and Winona Mathews in Ogden, Utah.

He was stationed in Japan and was as a paratrooper in the US Army.

James married Clairene on April 7, 1956. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Ogden LDS Temple.

He was a Captain for the Ogden City Fire Department for 28 years. He was also a builder which he thoroughly enjoyed doing. He built and remodeled many homes in the Ogden area.

James is survived by his wife of 57 years, Clairene, 3 daughters, Julie Mathews-Johnson, Laurie (Christian) Thornton, Karyn Bernier; 5 grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and one sister, Bonnie Lucero.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry & Winona Mathews and brother, Thomas Mathews.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 2, 2013 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. Friends may visit with family on Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Thursday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the mortuary.

Interment, Lindquist''s Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch, 1718 Combe Road.
