James Daniel Parker, beloved husband, father, son, brother, and friend, passed away unexpectedly on August 19, 2023 at the age of 47 from a heart attack while hunting in the mountains above Huntsville, Utah.
James was born on December 3, 1975, in Biloxi, Mississippi to James Parker and Rose Campbell. He was an avid outdoorsmen and never missed an opportunity to take his kids hunting, fishing, hiking, camping, and adventuring.
James enrolled at Utah State University where he met his eternal companion, Kami. He excelled in track and field earning a list of accolades along the way including; a nine time All-American, seven Big West Conference titles, and was inducted into the Utah State Athletics Hall of Fame in 2012. He took a two year hiatus from college to serve a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Upon his graduation in 2001, James commissioned in the United States Air Force. He was able to pursue his love of the hammer throw during his time in military and qualified for a spot on the 2004 Athens Olympic Team. When his service ended, he went on to graduate from the University of Western States in Portland with a doctorate in chiropractic practice. James dedicated himself to serving the sports and local community through his practice, Parker Muscle & Sports Clinic, in Kaysville, Utah.
James is survived by his wife, six children; James, Jace, Jarom, Johnathan, Jessa, and Julia, parents; James Parker and Rose Campbell, and three siblings, Marie Hurst, Michele Morrill and David Parker.
It is difficult to find the words to adequately describe such an incredible person. His strong testimony of Jesus Christ molded him and enriched his life with blessings. He will be lovingly remembered as a man whose kind demeanor and gentle strength touched the lives of all who knew him.
Services to honor his life will be held on Saturday, September 2, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at the Davis High School Football Field, 325 S. Main Street, Kaysville, Utah. Friends may visit with family Friday, September 1, 2023 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Rd., Layton, Utah and Saturday from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at the Davis High School Football Field.
