James Lamar Rhoads, 76, loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and uncle passed away on Monday, August 13, 2012 in St. George. He was born on March 6, 1936 to George Maxwell and Iva Mattie Suttlemyre Rhoads in Ogden, Utah. He attended Ogden City Schools.

He married Zell-Rae Greenwood on August 8, 1953 in Brigham City, Utah. They recently celebrated their 59th Wedding Anniversary. They raised three children in Riverdale, Utah. Jim loved his family and was there for every one of them. He was the most wonderful father and grandfather in the world.

Jim worked as a switchman for the OUR&D Railroad from 1953 until he retired in 1982. In 1988, Jim and Zell-Rae moved to St. George. In 1965 he started Ogden Auto Sales. He loved investing in Real Estate and loved his trailer park in Corvallis, Oregon.

He loved to travel with his wife and friends in his younger years. He enjoyed being around horses, especially his horse Dude and dogs Purdy and Tilly.

Jim is survived by his loving wife, Zell-Rae; son, Scott (Shaun) Rhoads; daughters, Janet Peck and Sheryl (Bob) Leavitt; mother-in-law - mother, Bernice Greenwood; 18 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren; brother, Tom (Francis) Rhoads; sister, Joyce McBride; brothers-in-law, Barnard (Nancy) Greenwood and Brent (Sandi) Greenwood; sisters-in-law, Karen Howard and Sandra (Kent) Youngman and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; father-in-law a€" dad, Barnard Hartley "BH" Greenwood; grandson, Justin Hall Rhoads; brothers-in-law, Del McBride and Lowell Howard and his best friend, Bob Owens.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 18, 2012 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. Friends may visit with family on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the mortuary.

Interment, Lindquist''s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.
